Kaitag textiles are an unusual embroidered textile art form from the Kaitag district of southwest Daghestan, Russia Surviving examples are mostly from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Chalice Cover with four Kuffic seals Achdjian Collection
This Chalice Cover with four Kuffic seals, a cross-shaped composition and in border a motif with 4 snakes or Dioun around an eigth pointed star, eigth floral main motifs and a central square medallion. The S shape or Dioun or snake must be studied by Armenian scholars. In the 1950′ ies, since my childhood, my father, Albert Achdjian, used to tell me that this motif was a symbol of an Armenian rug or textile.
